Greg's hat is finished!!!

I really, really like this pattern. It's a free pattern named Dylan's Beanie on Ravelry. One of the few top-down hat patterns. Easy to knit, and it has pick and choose sizes,
and the top increases are pretty cool.

Greg bought this pure alpaca hand spun yarn from Tonya's store, and it was a pleasure to work with. So soft and cozy. It'll keep Greg nice and warm next winter.
It's really a dark grey, not brownish like in the pictures.
And Katie approves :-)

Rabbits are everywhere!!
I made these for a coworkers' twin girls,
and now everybody wants one!

The best reward? Pictures of the babies with their bunny :-)
**Not shown are 2 additional pink ones.
They look exactly like the pink one in the first picture :-)

My spinning obsession

I got a PVC spinning wheel for Yule! There's no way I could justify getting an expensive wooden one for a hobby that I may or may not like, or be able to master. Besides, I have a love of Adult Tinker toys PVC.

My Babe spinning wheel, from Babe's Fiber Garden, ordered through Tonya's Cute by Design
Not being able to wait, I immediately spun this:

Then I got smart and set up a class with Tonya.
After one class there was quite a bit of improvement:
With a bit of confidence now, I signed up for Tonya's "Spinning Fun Fiber" class.
Left to right: wool, rabbit, silk, rabbit using the long draw method, superwash wool.

And finally, my first complete hank of wool. 148 yards or so, spun, plied, washed, dried, and wound? Niddy noddied? Whatever.
Here it is...tada!!
There are fat spots, and skinny spots...

But it's not too bad, it's done, and it was fun. So, the spinning wheel was a good thing. Except I'm spending less time knitting now :-(

Chick-fil-A time

I'm waaaaaayy overdue for an update. How overdue, you ask?
The Chick-fil-A has been built. And visited.
Chick-fil-A sandwiches have been consumed. A few of them were even the spicy ones.
Waffle fries have been dipped in honey mustard sauce.
Sweet tea has been drank.

OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!

We're getting a Chick-Fil-A!!!!!!!   We're getting a Chick-Fil-A!!!!!!! Actually, we're getting two, but who's counting :-P
There actually is a Chick-Fil-A here...for the Mutual of Omaha employee only. So close...
I've had Chick-Fil-A three times in the past 7 years and 4 months.
Twice from Cheyenne, Wyoming (500 miles)
And once when Rhi and Tony brought some back from Springfield, Missouri (343 miles)

This article was left on my desk this morning. I guess I've whined about it too much at work...
I just hope they bring their excellent sweet tea with them.
Next up...a Waffle House. And Rush's. And Maurice's BBQ (though I might settle for Shealy's)

Red Sky Music Festival...

...was totally a blast. Rhi and I went on Monday to see Sister Hazel. They were awesome, but we were distracted a bit by the hula-hoop girl:
Apparently, hula-hooping during a show gets you noticed by the band, and maybe even gets you on stage WITH the band:
As we were leaving we passed by the Fab Four. They looked and sounded just like the Beatles:

Then I went back on Friday to see Cowboy Mouth. They were awesome as usual. I'm not used to their shows being limited to 1½ hours though. Would have liked to have heard "Joe Strummer" and "This Much Fun", but I was happy with what they could fit into their allotted time:

The best part - Fred singing Patsy Cline's "Crazy" a cappella. This link is from another show, but gives you an idea of what it was like.

OMG's it's finally, finally finished!
Many, many thanks to Kelly for tolerating:
- long pants
- a scarf
- a wool coat
- mosquitos
- July
- in Nebraska
Just for the sake of pictures :-) Thanks for putting up with my whims :-) (Though, I do think everyone in the house knows by now...the price I charge for my creations is simply photos to document them.)
So, here it is...the Season 16 Dr. Who (never ending) Scarf (from hell) and my lovely model ;-)

When finished, including fringe, it's 18ft 10in

Next up...socks for me!
Then a scarf for Rhi.
And a steering wheel cover and gear stick cozie for Rhi.
Then a scarf for Greg.
And more socks for me.

The Best Beef Game EVER!!

It was one of those exciting, loud, sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat games, won by the Beef in the last play, 18 seconds remaining, and a 46-yard field goal return for a touchdown.
Awesome.
Just absolutely awesome.
There was yelling and screaming, cowbells, horns, high-fives, people hugging, dogs and cats living together.
Just awesome.

Omaha Beef Field Goal Return for the WIN!!!
It just don't get any better than this.

In the beginning...

...there was the sound of silence: no hysterical giggling, no shouts of "DICKS!!" coming from the computer speakers, no sounds of gunfire, squeeling tires, bombs, swordfights, pickaxes, or annoying vendors coming from the computer room. For this week, and this week only, the estrogen levels are higher than the testosterone levels in my house. I'm definitely getting a preview of what an empty nest will feel like (I don't really like it, btw)
Greg and Tony are both in L.A. at the E3 convention, working for WorthPlaying.

The house is creepy quiet without the two of them. Rhi and I have been filling the evenings with shopping and Glee. It really does help, and Rhi's now got the most adorable new purse ;-)
It sounds like the guys are having a blast, though. As soon as I get some pictures I'll post them.
And so far today: Kelly has fixed the server, filled the washer fluid in my car and Rhi's, dealt with assholes over money issues, mowed the yard, cleaned the grill, vacuumed the ENTIRE freakin house, changed the sheets, flipped the mattress, and he's cooking chicken alfredo tonight. How on Earth did I get so damned lucky!?!?!
I will eventually get the bits and bobs filled out and personalized, but at least it's a start.
